Early this year, my best friend Ella told me that their female dog is pregnant. I immediately told her to reserve one puppy for me once the dog gives birth. Last March 5, she messaged me early in the morning letting me know that their dog finally gave birth. They were all restless at home because the dog gave birth in one corner of their bedroom and under the bed. Charlotte, the dog, gave birth to 5 pups. Unfortunately, 1 was already lifeless when delivered and that same day, 1 of the remaining 4 died when Charlotte (according to Ella’s mom) accidentally sat or laid down on the puppy. Ella sent me photos and they looked so small and very delicate!
The following day, after jogging, we went to their house to see the pups. No one was home and the pups were hungry. So we took some syringe and fresh milk and fed the pups. We had to lock Charlotte in the bedroom during the feeding time because she kept on barking that we felt scared she might bite.
Ella’s mom told us that we can get our puppy by end of May. But before end of the month, we were asked to collect our puppy because they were having some difficulty maintaining all 6 dogs at home. Two puppies were given away and 1 remained with the family. I was given the female pup which I named Chummy. She was still pretty small when we got her and on her first night at home, she kept on crying probably because the place was new to her. So every time she would cry, I had to stand beside her or at least show her my feet were there beside her so she won’t feel scared. Once she closed her eyes to sleep, I would go back to bed to sleep myself. It was like having a baby.
The following morning, I let her out when she started crying again. I heard my Dad saw her and even played with her before going on his way out to go to work. I thought my parents would not like having her at home but, oh boy, was I wrong! They loved her! They loved how playful she was and how cute she was. My mom even got her doggy clothes and toys from her vacation in the Philippines. I think Chummy had the most goodies from Mom than any of us! I even thought Laviel wouldn’t be so into her but he had the most patience and enthusiasm in giving Chummy a bath, cleaning after her and playing with her.
Chummy is turning 5 months now and has grown quite bigger. She can now jump on the couch and on our bed. But her playfulness and naughtiness is still at a high! Sometimes I get so annoyed that I scold her. But she’s like the little child of our family. She still so cute and very sweet. She’s treated like a baby and we really love her. I’d really like to keep for a long time.
